They shaved, it was mentioned a few times on the show.
It's not so much whether or not they can shave, but how come they always have what looks like a 5 day old beard? Like, somehow they shaved five days ago every day.
I really think the biggest mystery is why does Hurley never lose any weight.
A facial hair asymptote? A special island, indeed.
